Aligning Resources
Equity Arc is a national coalition dedicated to increasing racial equity within the field of classical music in the United States. We bring together the wisdom and work of individuals and institutions to amplify our collective impact
Equity Arc was conceived in 2018 by a group of musical leaders and refined through two years of planning, meetings, and multi-day convenings, leading to our official launch in January 2021.
Our collective aligns resources and collaborates on strategies to empower musicians of color as they traverse the path from their formative musical years through advanced training to a career in classical music.
Formerly NIMAN: National Instrumentalist Mentoring and Advancement Network.
“In working to proactively expand access to arts education, the Peabody Preparatory is fully committed to increasing the diversity of the student musicians in our studios and classrooms and on our stages. We are proud to stand with Equity Arc in its work to create a level playing field in classical music.”
Maria Mathieson, Executive Director of the Preparatory, The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University
