Creating a level playing field for BIPOC classical musicians in the United States.
Advancing Racial Equity through Collaboration
Musicians of color make up less than 21%* of orchestral musicians. Equity Arc levels the playing field by developing new pathways that empower BIPOC instrumentalists to pursue their passions.
We work collectively with partners at all stages of the journey, from early studies to conservatory to career, to transform classical music from within.

On May 4, 2025, Equity Arc was set to present a wind symphony concert with the U.S. Marine Band “The President’s Own”(USMB). That concert, which would have been the culminating event of a multi-day intensive learning experience between the students and “The President’s Own” was cancelled in mid-February due to the recent presidential executive order entitled “Ending Radical and Wasteful DEI Programs and Preferencing.”
In the wake of that cancellation, we reached out to retired members of the premier military and military academy bands to recreate both the mentoring and performing experiences for the students. We planned and executed this reimagined event together in a matter of days. Equity Arc granted CBS’ 60 Minutes access to capture the full experience.
