Extending Support
The Equity Arc Wind Symphony brings together talented pre-college musicians from historically underrepresented cultural backgrounds for a tuition-free multi-day training residency with the United States Marine Band (USMB). Musicians selected through a competitive audition process will learn from professional military musicians, network with peers from similar backgrounds, and participate in cultural activities in Washington, DC. This experience culminates with a side-by-side performance with the United States Marine Band conducted by Dr. Rodney Dorsey. The inaugural Wind Symphony will be held on May 1-4, 2025 in Washington DC.
This opportunity is open to advanced pre-college wind, brass, percussion, and string bass instrumentalists from historically underrepresented cultural backgrounds. You will need to sign an eligibility statement as part of your application.

Audition Eligibility & Requirements
This opportunity is open to advanced pre-college wind, brass, and percussionists from historically underrepresented cultural backgrounds.
The audition repertoire includes a solo of the applicant’s choice, and 1 lyrical and 1 technical excerpt selected from the excerpt packet. You are encouraged to pick a piece with your music teacher that best demonstrates your musical abilities. Professional recording equipment is not required. View excerpt packet ›

Cost & Expectations
The Equity Arc Wind Symphony is a tuition-free program. Fellows are responsible for housing and travel costs, meals will be provided to fellows. Fellows under 18 are also expected to travel with a parent or guardian. Please note: fellows will not be supervised outside of symphony activities.
Equity Arc has reserved a block of 40 rooms at Hampton Inn & Suites Washington DC Navy Yard (1265 First St. SE, Washington DC) at a rate of $269/night. The hotel is located 0.9 miles from the Marine Barracks (8th and I Streets SE, Washington, DC). Rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. A booking link will be available soon.
Equity Arc will provide limited funding for fellows with extenuating financial circumstances.
Schedule Overview
Fellows should arrive by Thursday, May 1 in the afternoon and can depart following the 2 pm concert on Sunday, May 4. Symphony activities include rehearsals and sectionals with USMB musicians, sightseeing in Washington DC, and mock auditions. Fellows are expected to be available and present for the duration of the event. The full schedule will be shared at a later date.
